Every Wednesday Industry Nights at Terravant

Every Thursday Blind Tasting Challenge

Solvang: Test your knowledge of varietals and regions during this fun weekly blind tasting that challenges you to match up answers for each wine based on wine type, origin, price and alcohol content. Monthly Solvang 3rd Wednesday Beer & Wine Walk

Monthly Friday Night Winemakers

Los Olivos: Guest winemakers from around the Valley mill about the Los Olivos Wine Merchant & Cafe on the last Friday of every month (July 29 with Matt Brady of Jaffurs; August 26 with Larry Schaffer of Tercero; September 30 with Wes Hagen of J. Monthly Art In The Courtyard

Santa Ynez:  Held the second Saturday of the month, (July 9, August 13, September 10) this special art show is a great opportunity to browse and buy wonderful original, handmade objects d’art by local artists and also see some interesting exhibits at the museum.  Takes place from 11am - 4pm. in the courtyard of the Santa Ynez Valley Historical Museum & Parks-Janeway Carriage House, 3596 Sagunto Street, Santa Ynez. Monthly Stories By The Stagecoach

July 4 Parade & Fireworks 

Solvang:  Celebrate Independence Day with a “Solvang-Style” parade which takes to the streets at 1pm along with a traditional all-day red-white-and-blue festival at Old Mission Santa Ines and a spectacular, grand finale fireworks display at 9pm.  Info: 805-688-6144; solvangusa.com.

July 30 Buellton BBQ Bonanza 

Buellton:  Barbecue Tri-Tip is the main course at this highly anticipated annual event which draws one of the biggest crowds of the year.  Lots of other great food, too, along with live music, demonstrations, raffle, chocolate chip cookie baking contest, children’s activities and more.  Takes place from 11am until 2pm at River View Park, 151 Sycamore Dr., Buellton.  Free admission. August 3 Veggie Rescue Cookbook Fundraiser

Solvang:  Celebrity Chef “Pink” and Courtney Rae DeLongpré of Solvang’s acclaimed Bacon & Brine Restaurant, pull out all the stops during this terrific farm-to-table dinner that benefits Veggie Rescue, an organization that gleans local produce from farms, farmers markets, home gardens and orchards and delivers it to charitable organizations and school lunch programs in Santa Barbara County.  Takes place at 6pm, hosted by Bacon & Brine Restaurant, 1618 Copenhagen Dr. at the corner of Second St. Info: 805-350-9154; veggierescue.org.

August 6 In The Vineyard & On The Farm

Los Olivos:  Every year, Sam and Shawnda  Marmorstein, owners of the Los Olivos Wine  Merchant & Cafe, welcome guests to their family property to share their Bernat wines and Cafe Farm for an evening of delicious local cuisine and great company.  The event begins with passed hors d’oeuvres on the lawn in front of the Bernat vines and a tour of the couple’s beautiful organic vineyard and farm.  Chef Chris Joslyn of the Los Olivos Wine Merchant & Cafe, also prepares a three-course dinner created from freshly picked Cafe Farm produce and meat from a local ranch.  Takes place from 4:30 - 7pm at Bernat Vineyard.  FYI: This event sells out every year so be sure to reserve early. August 20 Therapeutic Riding’s Cowboy Ball

August 27  Wheels N’ Windmills Car Show

Solvang: Get revved up when over 300 vintage vehicles line the streets of Solvang during this 12th annual charity car show.  Takes place throughout Solvang from noon to midnight.  Info: 805-688-6112. 

September 16 - 18 Solvang Danish Days

Solvang:  California’s premier Danish Heritage Festival kicks off on Friday night with a free concert at the Solvang Park Gazebo, Torchlight Parade and Opening Ceremonies in the Park.  Both Saturday and Sunday are jam-packed with lots of fun events.  Full event schedule on page 14. October 7 - 10 Celebration of Harvest

Valley-Wide:  This four day wine country fall weekend celebrates the highly anticipated arrival of harvest.  Events include a Friday night Harvest Dinner, Saturday morning wine seminar and Saturday afternoon Celebration of Harvest Festival at the Old Mission Santa Ines in Solvang.  Purchase a Vintners Visa to explore up to twelve wineries and tasting rooms, each offering complimentary offerings to Visa holders.  Info: celebrationofharvest.com.

Now - Sept 18  Sunday Jazz & Beyond: In The Garden “Under The Oaks”

Solvang: “Sunday Jazz In The Garden” celebrates its fifth year with an incredible line-up of prolific performers.  On July 31, master solo guitarist, Brother Yusef takes to the stage with his own brand of “Fatback Blues” followed by the electro-acoustic group, trioKait on August 7.  On August 14, The Robert Hart Project incorporates an eclectic blend of musical genres into a hip, melodic and syncopated style.  Virtuoso, Mads Tolling Duo, featuring Colin Hogan - an amazing new voice on the violin, creates a big stir with hooky and refreshing music on August 28.  Rounding out the season on September18 is renowned Brazilian vocalist/guitarist, Teka and NewBossa.  Gates open at 2:30pm and concerts begin at 3pm at the Solvang Festival Theater, 490 Second St., Solvang.  Info and tickets: 805-686-1789; solvangfestivaltheater.org.
