Hula Hula Burger From CHOMP
Solvang’s favorite family and dog-friendly diner-style restaurant is all about community and is also an iconic gathering place for school sports teams and post events. One of the most popular items on the menu is the signature Hula Hula Burger made with Angus Chuck Beef. But what really makes the Hula Hula Burger so good is the special house-made Teriyaki sauce. Here’s the recipe:
Ingredients: • (Yields 4 Servings) • 2 Lbs. Angus Chuck Beef formed into 4 patties • 4 Slices of Grilled Pineapple • 8 Pieces of Thick Hickory-Smoked Bacon, cooked • 4 Slices of Swiss Cheese • 4 Brioche Buns • Teriyaki Sauce (see recipe below)
Teriyaki Sauce: • 1 Tbl. Canola Oil • 2 Tbl. Minced Garlic • 1/2 Tsp. Sriracha Sauce • 3/4 Cup Green Onions • 1/2 Cup Mirin Wine • 1/2 Cup Soy Sauce • 2 Tbl. Brown Sugar 2 Tsp. Corn Starch 2 Tsp. Water 2 Tbl. Minced Garlic
Teriyaki Sauce Preparation: Heat canola oil in sauce pan over high heat. Add the garlic, ginger and Sriracha. Stir continually for one minute. Add the green onions and Mirin wine. Continue stirring and cook for 2 -8 minutes until mixture is reduced. Stir in soy sauce and brown sugar. Simmer over medium heat for 5 minutes. In small bowl, mix corn starch and water. Slowly whisk into mixture and cook for 3 minutes.
To Serve: Grill burgers to taste. Add slice of swiss cheese and allow to melt. Place each burger on Brioche bun and top with a tablespoon of teriyaki sauce, two pieces of bacon, and grilled pineapple slice.
